Kelimutu Lake

The Lake which is located in Flores Nusa Tenggara Timur, is a creater which has 3 various color. These 3 lakes are Tiwu Ata Mbupu (Lake of Old People) is usually blue and is the westernmost of the three lakes. The other two lakes, Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai (Lake of Young Men and Maidens) and Tiwu Ata Polo (Bewitched or Enchanted Lake) are separated by a shared crater wall and are typically green or red in color, respectively.

 The reason of changing its color is unknown according to reaserch it is changed due to chemical reaction such as Sulfur dioksida, hidrogen klorida, hidrogen sulfida, dan karbon dioksida occured among of these lakes. But people around of this lake believes that when the color changes into dark red or brown, is a sign of bad weather will happend in this world

The distance between the lake and the closest village called moni  is about 14 km can be reached by a car. To get the lake, we have to walk from the gate takes 45 minutes. The best time to visit Kelimutu lake is in the morning because normally during the day this place will covered by fog.

Many of Guest house available in the Moni village with reasonable prices, and normnally no available AC in the guest house due to the cold weather in that place.
